Running with Jesus 2015

Luke 9: 23-24 "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it."

Jesus had been raising the dead and just prior to these verses He began to reveal what was going to happen to Him. Then He begins teaching kingdom living. What it takes to run with Jesus! If any man is willing to come after Him we must deny self! Now tell me that is not something this generation wants to hear! In fact, we are told right the opposite, get all you can for self!  I once taught about how we live in an upside down world and how we do when in the flesh is opposite of what we should be doing. We yell when we should be quiet! We fear when we should have faith! We move when we should be still! Are you with me on this? It takes so much more power to obey God than not. We must learn to deny self because when we accept Christ we lose all our rights, they are now His. We have no right to not forgive, to hate, and to lie. And the truth, that is where we have freedom. This is where we actually save our lives! When we keep our fist open not closed.

Oh Father, help us surrender our rights to You! You always know what is best for our lives. Help us when we want to hold on and not let go! We surrender our will to Yours today. Help me run at Your pace.

Run up the mountain with Him tomorrow, don't get behind. You will miss this one!
