Running with Jesus

Acts 11:22-24 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Barnabas had the gift of exhortation so when news traveled the church was growing, the apostles sent Barnabas to Antioch. Everyone needs a Barnabas to encourage us. Barnabas was described as a man full of the Holy Spirit and strong faith. When he arrived and saw what the work God was doing he was filled with joy and encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord!  As a result many people came to know the Lord!

We all need encouragement and need to surround ourselves with Barnabas's. I don't like to be around negative people, complainers, and naggers! This will bring you down. Are you a Barnabas walking among people? Watch your attitude today! Attitudes rub off on other people and makes for a downer day and as a Christian we should be full of joy.  Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. So what are you full of today? Being filled with the Holy Spirit can make you more like Barnabas! So let's have some quiet time and get filled up with the Spirit. Let Him control your spirit!

Lord, it is our desire to be an encourager not a discourager. Come sweet, sweet Spirit, fill us up and bring joy into our lives today. Someone needs a Barnabas, let it be us! Show us who needs uplifting today. Show us how to be a modern day Barnabas!

Saul's caught back up with us in the morning! Keep running with Jesus by now you are getting stronger!
